Slowing down

I've been keeping this blog mostly for family...but since my family is now all on Facebook (including my grandparents!), I'm going to slow down on the blog (as I've already done). We've had a busy couple of months--my Mom is having surgery on Friday to have a benign brain tumor removed, I had surgery last Monday to have my gallbladder removed, and we had busy holidays with lots of family (which was wonderful). So, I wanted to post a picture of Blake with his early birthday cake trying so hard to blow out a candle (his first time to do this). So precious. =) He turns 2 years old on Tuesday! Time is flying by.

Hope you all have a wonderful New Years and blessed 2011!

"The teradactyl"

Here's my handsome little guy before church this morning.

We tried on his halloween costume this afternoon...this is Jonah's costume from last year. Darth Vader. =) Blake loved it! Hopefully we'll get some cute pics next weekend at our church fall festival with all the kiddos.

And my reason for this post was to share the latest beautiful sound coming from my child's mouth, "the teradactyl." I used to kid with my brother about his little girl's teradactyl squeal when she was this age and we'd chase her around the house, but now Blake does it...and its hilarious...and loud. I've tried for 2 days to post a video clip of it, but its not working!!!!! Oh well. One day you'll get to hear it. =)

October

Trying to catch up a bit...here are some random silly pics of Blake one night playing with my Mizzou hat. =) He gets a little wired right before bed time, which is hilarious to watch.

Last weekend, we traveled to Arkansas for Jamie's wedding. I had lots of wedding stuff to be at, so Blake and Dalton mostly stayed at Kevin's and played. Here are some pics from the weekend.

The trip back was uneventful because he slept most of the way (praise the Lord!).

This week was pretty crazy trying to catch up with everything, but today I started my day in the best way possible---cartoons with my favorite cuddly little guy. =) Treasuring these moments!

The next post (two posts in one day! How 'bout that!) is pics from the wedding events.

Wedding

Here are a few pictures (we had 200, I think!) from Jamie's beautiful wedding last weekend. It was such a fun weekend...Kelly came in from Boston with her sweet family (Steve, 2-yr-old Maddie, and 3-mth-old Sophie), so it was fun catching up with them. Blake spent most of the weekend playing with Jonah and Adria, which he absolutely loved. =) It was a whirlwind of a weekend, but worth every second.

October

Catching up on pictures....

Blake LOVES to sweep. When we go in the backyard, he grabs this red broom ("boom") and begins to sweep the sidewalk, sweep the grass, sweep the flowers...whatever is in his path. =)

Last week we had a big shin-dig out for our MOPS group (mothers of pre-schoolers) out in the boondocks. Blake had fun once he found a ball and a bat. They had a great set-up...pumpkin decorating and all, but he's just not big enough yet.

Today was our Homecoming event! We went to a pre-parade gathering, where we acquired the prized possession of the day--a blue balloon. This was our saving grace when potential melt-downs could have easily occurred. Yeah for balloons!!!! Here are some pics from the day...

A little zoned out...watching the other kids in a big tub of corn kernels digging for prizes.

Getting tickled by his daddy in the "Little Jackets Nest," an area they set up for the kiddos to play. (our mascot is the Yellow Jacket)

Of course, he found Tyler--his BFF. =) Love this picture of the two of them.

I couldn't get a picture of Blake with "Buzzsaw" but did get one of Tyler. We're a little scared of Buzzsaw's head...creepy isn't it?

After the parade and the picnic lunch, we went to get gelato...our FAVORITE. Blake decided to hang out in the front seat while Dalton picked up our sweet treats inside. This shows me how tiny he is once I compare this picture to a few years down the road when he will actually fit in one of these seats!

Silly boy

Blake is at such a fun age. =) He makes me laugh every day with his goofiness and physical comedy. Right now, for example, he is throwing himself on the carpet as if he's falling down, then he bursts into laughter at himself and does it all over again. He even makes the sound effects to go along with the fall. Its so funny. Here are a couple of pictures from this morning....I realize that I post alot of pictures of him in his highchair, but that is of course because its the only time he's still!

Here he is playing with Daddy, who was bouncing a ball with a tennis racquet. Blake was laughing so hard!

And finally, a non-Blake picture--Dalton mowed the lawn this week and a rock flew up and hit the glass door. It immediately cracked into a million little lines. Not a fun ending to our week having to spend money on a new door, but oh well! I like to think it was a temporary stained glass door--kinda pretty. =)
